Invitations and what to expect
What are "Save-the-Date" cards?
These cards are usually sent three to four months before the
wedding. They typically include information about the wedding
and any special accommodations that you have made for your
out-of-town guests. It's especially useful when your event is
planned around a holiday or busy time of year.
Who do I send wedding announcements to and when do I mail them?
Wedding announcements are only sent to those people who were not
invited
to the ceremony or reception. They should be mailed immediately
after the ceremony.
When should
I order my invitations?
Wedding invitations should be ordered when all the details of
the ceremony and reception have been confirmed. You will
also need to have an accurate guest list count to place your
order. It's a good idea to order them 3 to 6 months prior to
your wedding date if possible. This allows for some stress free
time to address them.
What is the
master wedding invitation list?
It is the final list that has been compiled after the bride has
made her list and
the groom has made his.
Should I order
more invitations than what I need?
YES!!
You should order correct quantity plus 25 extra in case you
forgot someone.
(It is very costly to reorder 25 later)
I am looking to purchase invitations, but I am confused by the
extra charges.
Will I pay
extra for colored ink?
Yes, usually between $6.50 and $10.00 total per product
ordered.
i.e. Invitations printed in color $6.50 extra, reception
cards in color $6.50
extra, response cards printed in color $6.50 extra etc.
Will I
pay extra for corner copy?
Yes any where from $8.00 to 16.00 for 3 lines of copy.
Yes, it is usually on average $1.00 per line over the 14 lines
of copy to be printed.
However, when ordering Carlson Craft invitations, there is no
extra line charge.
Will I pay
extra for my return address to be printed on the envelope
flaps?
Yes, the cost is usually around $35 per hundred invitation
envelopes. This not only saves time, but it also completes
the look of your invitations. Much better than sticking a label
on the envelope!
Yes, approximately $20 per hundred envelopes is the norm.
What is a French Fold Invitation?
It's a sheet of paper folded twice to create a four-panel
invitation.
This fold is most common with parchment invitations.
What is Thermography?
It is a printing process that gives the appearance of engraving,
but is much
less expensive than an engraved invitation. Most invitations
use this printing method.
They
are inserted inside the second fold of the invitation.
Do I seal
the inner envelope?
No. These envelopes will not have glue on them, nor should you
use an
envelope seal to close them.
When do I need to send the Thank You cards out?
Your written thank you note should be sent as soon as
possible after receiving the gift. It is considered socially
correct to send a written thank you note even if you have
thanked someone in person.
The rule of etiquette for thank you notes... for gifts received
before the wedding, you should send out a thank you note within
two weeks. For gifts received after the wedding, you have up to
one month to send out your thank you notes. However, it has
become acceptable today to send wedding thank you notes up to
two months after the wedding, especially if you take a long
honeymoon or invited several hundred guests!
